Premiering in 1993, Desert Town Hall began as a for-profit organization. In 1996, Desert Forum, Inc. was specifically formed as a nonprofit corporation to purchase and operate the series. Since that time, the budget for the organization has nearly doubled to just over $1 million a year. This growth has allowed us to continue to bring the top speakers in our world today to our desert paradise.
The Board of Directors of Desert Forum, Inc. includes local business, civic leaders and active citizens. Each brings a unique perspective to the overall objectives of the organization. The Board sets policy for the organization and works with staff to select the speakers, plan menus and more.
The Town Hall staff has many years experience in managing events and activities of all types. As a result, Desert Town Hall is known as one of the nation's foremost speaker programs.
Each year the Board of Directors and Staff strive to improve the experience at each program. Comments and suggestions are encouraged. At the lectures, please give your ideas or suggestions to any of our staff, volunteers or Board Members. All are identified with name badges with our logo.
This series is supported by a number of philanthropic sponsors, foundations, and through ticket sales. We rely upon this support to make the organization financially viable. Quite a number of those attending the programs make substantial financial donations to the organization in addition to purchasing their tickets. We are grateful for the wide support, and list all those persons in the evening program.
